WINE
We love Chardonnay. It’s versatile, friendly to the most healthy – and most decadent – of foods, and comes in so many different styles. Our winemaking team crafted a Chardonnay in the style they’d like to drink themselves. Dangerously floral and fruit-driven with a crisp finish. This wine makes it easy to enjoy drinking a young Chardonnay, and even easier to share with friends.

WINEMAKING
Just like a good first base coach, we are all about the steel! This Chardonnay went through a long, cool fermentation in stainless steel, and then was aged in (you guessed it!) stainless steel for 4 months, with only the slightest hint of oak and minimal lees contact to keep the wine crisp and bright!

VINTAGE

2021 was HOT, HOT, HOT! Like triple digits, hide from the sun, you’re melting into a puddle hot! September arrived and hit the breaks on ripening with a little rain, letting us bring in perfectly ripe, clean fruit! Huzzah!

NOTES
Bright citrus fruit reign supreme, graced by touches of honeysuckle, honeydew, and the cleanest minerality (like licking river rocks, but in the best way).

PAIRINGS
Popcorn, fried chicken, salads (green, potato, tuna – you name it!), roasted veggies, grilled shrimp, fish & chips, and chicken curry.

VINTAGE HIGHLIGHTS
2023 was our 3rd warmest growing season on record after the 2015 and 2014 vintages. We had the warmest and driest August on record and if it was not for the rain in early September our harvest would have started before Labor Day Weekend. Three cheers for the rain! One of the interesting things about 2023 was the arrival of our first hailstorm right after bloom. We have never seen a damaging hailstorm in our vineyard since we started in 1971, so seeing it happen and the resulting damage was at first a little scary. While it looked like our yields might have been higher, the hailstorm helped reduce the crop to our desired amount. The resulting fruit was excellent, with the heat in August producing lower acid in the grapes and nice full flavors.

WINEMAKING
The fruit was hand harvested on October 7th and whole cluster pressed to limit skin contact. Fermented 60% in neutral oak puncheons, and 40% concrete egg. Aged 5 months in stainless steel.

WINE PROFILE
On the nose, our 2023 Riesling has bright hints of Meyer lemon, pineapple, and stone fruit. Candied citrus lingers on the finish.

THE STORY
We were thrilled to have the opportunity to make a stunning dry Riesling from Argyle’s esteemed Lone Star Vineyard. Lone Star catches the day’s first rays of sun and the rocky soils retain heat at night, making it an excellent warm growing site in the Eola-Amity Hills.

WINEMAKING
The fruit for this wine was harvested September 13-October 4. Fermented in stainless steel and aged 4 months in stainless steel with weekly lees stirring.

WINE PROFILE
Our 2023 Willamette Valley Pinot Gris has notes of fresh white peach, bright tropical fruits, and clean citrus. The wine is dry and crisp with a touch of grapefruit peel on the finish.

THE STORY
We produce a dry style Pinot Gris, which accentuates the minerality this varietal clearly expresses. In addition to fermentation size and temperature, the diversity of yeasts used to perform fermentation plus the extended period of lees contact prior to blending and bottling contributes greatly to the complexity of this wine.

VINTAGE HIGHLIGHTS 2021 was the 2nd warmest growing season we have ever seen since 2015. We also got to add a new term to the dictionary: “Heat Dome”. Three straight days of triple digit temperatures in late June breaking heat records for the Willamette Valley! Bud break started like usual in the middle of April. We had the driest March through May that the Willamette Valley has seen through 128 years of record keeping! Bloom also appeared on time in early/mid June. While late June brought the “Heat Dome”, our grapes made it through thanks to bloom being finished at all our sites and there still being soil moisture, so they grew like crazy over those three days of hellish temperatures. While July and August turned out to be exceedingly hot and dry, September arrived with little rain which that allowed us to fully ripen the grapes. The hot and dry summer made for fruit that was extremely clean, resulting in for excellent fermentations. All in all, mother nature gave us something to be grateful for on our 50th anniversary.

WINEMAKING
The grapes from this block were carefully harvested on September 24th and 25th. The clusters were then sorted by hand to remove any flawed bunches and 100% de-stemmed directly into 3 ton stainless steel fermenters. Ambient fermentation was allowed to take place naturally with cap management by punch-downs. Once the fermentation process was finished, the wine was pressed off the skins at dryness and barreled down in 100% French oak barrels with 19% new oak and 18% neutral, and left to age for 16 months before bottling.

WINE PROFILE
Our 2021 Old Vineyard is red fruit forward and wet stone on the nose. You will find red cherry, plum and raspberry on the palate with a hint of clove.

PAIRINGS
Pinot Noir marinated tri-tip grilled and topped with a roasted pepper tapenade.

THE STORY
The Old Vineyard Block Pinot Noir comes from fruit harvested off of the initial section of the vineyard planted by founders Bill and Susan Sokol Blosser in the early 70s. Although replanted in 2007/2009 on rootstock, cuttings from fruiting vines were

VINTAGE HIGHLIGHTS
What started as a dry winter turned into a deluge of rain in the springtime. We had the wettest and coldest April/May/June in recorded (130 years) history. Freezing temperatures on the morning of April 14th and 15th knocked back the fragile new growth and we thought our crop yields would be down by 50-60%. In over 51 years of growing grapes here in the Dundee Hills we have never seen a freezing event during the growing season, so we had no idea what was going to happen. The primary buds froze and died, but the secondary buds came on, produced fewer but larger clusters, and the vines made a miraculous comeback. We had the 2nd warmest and driest summer on record, and then we got to October. Everything depended on good ripening conditions in the month of October since bloom was much later. Fortunately we got the warmest October in Oregon history, we were able to let the grapes hang, and the rains stayed put until all our Estate fruit was in on Thursday, October 27th. The fruit got nice and ripe, and we are thrilled with the wine produced from this vintage!

WINEMAKING
The grapes were hand-harvested on October 18th and fermented in 3-ton stainless steel tanks. Aged for 10 months in 13% new, 13% once-used, 74% neutral French oak barrels.

WINE PROFILE
Delicate floral notes, red raspberry, and pomegranate, hit the nose right away. On the palate, there is an abundance of both bright red and black fruit notes, with the balancing of lovely acidity and a subtle oak hint on the finish to make it a very well balanced Pinot Noir.

THE STORY
Originally planted in 1981, Temperance Hill is a second-generation owned vineyard with some of the highest elevations in the Eola-Amity Hills at nearly 1000ft.

WINE PROFILE
Our 2022 Peach Tree Block has an abundance of earthy tones with a woody, forest floor on both the nose and palate. It is accompanied by fresh notes of blackberry, black currants, and a touch of spice on the finish.

THE STORY
In line with the rest of our vineyard blocks, Peach Tree was named after what was previously planted here: peach trees. I remember those peach trees well, and those ripe peaches still hold a rich place in my imagination for how sweet and juicy they were. The peaches got so big and ripe that my parents would not let me help pick them as my small hand could not encompass enough of the fruit to not tear it. Oh the memories….. Now we have a little over two acres of Pommard and 777 Pinot Noir clone planted in this section. Of all our blocks, it always seems to produce a wild, almost un-tamed Pinot Noir, with its power of fruit and flavor going in multiple directions.
