As we step up to the plate for the start of the harvest season, we are excited to share that this year’s vintage is off to a great start with our very first all-female intern team led by our Winemaker Robin Howell and Cellar Master Alyssa Bowling. Now there are a lot of metaphors about harvest, but for me, harvest is like a voyage out to sea (just without the threat of scurvy). We’re all in the boat together; once we launch it’s pretty dang hard to add new crew members or supplies, it’s filled with long days and lots of hard work, and sometimes mother nature throws a storm at you (often literally) and we all have to work together to get through it.
This is Robin’s second year at the helm as Winemaker, but she has sailed on the Sokol Blosser ship longer than she would like me to mention, and we have absolute faith in her ability to deliver us to a safe harbor (too many boat metaphors?). Whether you call her Captain or Winemaker, she led us to create some beautiful wines in 2023 and we can’t wait to see what she does with the immaculate fruit we are looking at in the vineyard for 2024!
