Oregon wine country celebrates Earth Day

We feel a sense of social responsibility in conducting our business and our lives the way we do. This is the only way we could imagine doing it. Not only are our methods healthier for the soil, the vines, and those of us who work in the vineyard, they also lead to better wines.” – Susan Sokol Blosser, Founder

Today is Earth Day. As stewards of the land, we’re excited to celebrate. After we opened our new Tasting Room last year, we installed an electric vehicle (EV) charging station in our parking lot. Contributing to Oregon wine country tourism and the infrastructure for sustainable transportation, such as electric vehicles, we’re continuing our good-to-the-earth practices and commitment to respecting the land.

To celebrate Earth Day this year, we’re partnering with four other sustainable wine country destinations with EV stations – Elk Cove Vineyards, Stoller Family Estate, Winderlea Vineyard & Winery, and the Joel Palmer House Restaurant – to drive awareness about electric vehicle tourism in Oregon and accessibility of EV stations with our event called Plug & Pinot.

Plug & Pinot kicks off today (Earth Day) and runs through April 27.

Visit all five destinations during the week-long event to complete the Plug & Pinot Passport and be entered to win an EV-Powered Wine Country Getaway*. Details here.

In addition, on Saturday, April 26 from 12-4 pm, each destination will have electric vehicles for you to test ride and representatives on-site to share more information about sustainable driving. Here at Sokol Blosser, we’re hosting Tesla Motors. Click here to sign up for a Tesla test ride. Click here to find out what electric vehicles will be at the other destinations.

Additionally, if you have an electric vehicle, enjoy some additional bonuses during the week-long event: 1) Enjoy complimentary tastings at any of the participating wineries. 2) Indulge in a complimentary appetizer from The Joel Palmer House Restaurant. Special glass pours from each participating winery will also be exclusively available on the wine list. Please make dinner reservations at JoelPalmerHouse.com.

Curious about the route? Former Portland Trail Blazer Jerome Kersey is doing the Willamette Valley Wine & Food Byway on Thursday, April 24. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to see him land at each EV wine country destination. You can also follow the Plug & Pinot Facebook page and @JKersey25 for #ev2wv updates.

Thank you to all our supporting partners for helping us make this happen: Travel Oregon, Oregon Department of Transportation, Portland Trail Blazers, Nissan, Tesla, Porsche, Toyota, Chevrolet, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, The Allison Inn and Spa, PlugShare, and Stelcor Energy.

Cheers!
