Hello Sokol Blosser fans! Veraison (color change) has started in the vineyard and August is our last month of wonderful weather in the Willamette Valley. This newsletter will start with the third generation in the wine business and end with our Evolution Mobile Wine Bar.
When my niece, Anna Blosser, asked me last year if I could find her a summer job at a winery in Italy my first question to her was: “Are you serious? Cause if you are, then I can make that happen!” Fast forward to now and Anna is finishing up a month of working at one of Frescobaldi’s wineries in Tuscany. Pretty awesome and thank you Lamberto Frescobaldi (Lamberto is a neighbor here in the Dundee Hills and bought Domaine Roy et Fils a few years ago)! Add to that my twin boys, Avery and Nikolas have been working all summer in our tasting room pouring wine, and making pizzas for guests. I am proud to have them experience part of what we do here at the winery, and whether that will translate into working full time here at some point in the future, I don’t know. I am hopeful!
Speaking of being hopeful, we’ve had winery visits from our importers in the UK and Japan this summer (Les Caves de Pyrene and ORCA International). The topsy turvy nature of wine exporting at least for these two countries, has been hashed out with a trade deal so at least we can try and figure out how to handle the new much higher tariff rates and what that means for future sales. Bryanna Schnieder-Holden is our contact at Les Caves in the UK, and it was wonderful to have her visit as she used to be our Tasting Room Manager. Bryanna then became our Export Sales Manager and that is how she ended up with a job at our importer in the UK. Small world non?!?!? I love it that way!
Our Evolution wine is evolving….into a mobile travel bar. See the picture below. Our team has been taking this trailer all over the state of Oregon to serve Evolution Wine and our delicious Frose’s at concert venues, balloon festivals, and will end up at the end of the month at the Oregon State Fair in Salem.
