How does 54 sound? Getting our family wine growing operation to that birthday is a privilege that never gets old. Ha! This newsletter will start with pruning in the vineyard and end with releasing our 2024 Estate Rosé of Pinot Noir.
We cane prune all our vines with an 8-10 bud cane on each side of the head. Too technical? Watch the video below on pruning that I did a while ago to give you some more details: ……..It takes Luis and his crew about two months to prune all 130 acres of our vines at our Dundee Hills, Kalita, and Blossom Ridge sites. We start the 2nd week in January and finish around the end of February. We’ve had some sunny but cold weather this January which is great for working outside. Better than cold and rainy.
I had the pleasure of traveling to Texas and Florida in January to meet and work with our distributor in both states: Maverick. They are a relatively new wine distributor who has developed a wonderful wine portfolio while doing a great job servicing restaurants and retailers. We are excited to grow with them in both markets!
