Tasting Room Manager

Sokol Blosser Winery is seeking a hospitality driven, dynamic leader to manage our Tasting Room, which is the biggest part of one of the largest and most innovative DTC programs in Oregon. Our tasting room staff hosts over 40,000 visitors each year with the intent of delivering a unique and memorable wine country experience.

Our new tasting room has redefined what wine tasting can be in Oregon. We offer our guests a variety of ways to experience our wine. Whether paired with food, served tableside or enjoyed with a large group, we are able to accommodate their requests and exceed their expectations. We strive to continually raise the bar on providing an outstanding guest experience, delivering an amazing product and doing it all in the most distinctive tasting space in the state.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Oversee daily operations of the tasting room to include: hiring, coaching and managing a staff to achieve a high level, hospitality based guest experience
*Builds a cohesive, supportive environment for staff to achieve shared goals
*Resolves customer concerns quickly and proactively
*Ability to integrate and continue a collaborative working environment between Wine Club and Tasting Room to increase sales and enhance the overall guest experience
*Interact on a daily basis with the Hospitality Manager, Executive Chef and other managers to:
*Assist in planning and execution of events as needed, including staffing needs
*Attend and actively participate in weekly direct sales and staff meetings

REQUIREMENTS
*5-10 years related hospitality/sales management experience (wine, retail, restaurant, etc.) 
*Knowledgeable and passionate about wine and the wine/food lifestyle
*Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow through
*Creative thinking skills and able to think outside the box
*Excellent oral and written communication skills

Tasting Room Support Staff

Our Tasting Room Support Associate is an individual with wine hospitality experience and a passion for outstanding guest service in the food and wine industry. Our tasting room staff’s primary goal is to make sure that every guest has an exceptional wine country experience at Sokol Blosser.  It is vital that the person who fills this position is service-oriented, both within the organization and also toward customers and vendors.  This position provides support to our Tasting Room Sales Associates and Managers.  

Essential Duties
Fulfill wine purchase orders and assist guests with carrying their purchases to their vehicle
Clean and stock glassware
Clear glasses and dishes as needed
Keep water pitchers filled for customers
Ensure tasting area is clean and presentable
Assist with preparation of food trays as necessary
Keep supplies stocked throughout the shift
Help keep property and work areas clean
Floor care; sweeping and mopping floor
Keep tasting area stocked with product and supplies
Empty all trash and recycling as needed;  removed from building and placed in the dumpster prior to departing
Assist in set up and take down of winery events including: chairs, tables, service ware, tents, etc.
Assist in guiding guests to the proper tasting areas on site

Skills and Abilities
High School Graduate or GED equivalent
Passionate about wine and the wine/food lifestyle.  Has working knowledge about Oregon wines.
Able to work well in a team environment and in close working conditions with employees and customers
Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
Able to multi-task and prioritize a somewhat large and fast paced workload
Able to lift and carry 45 lbs.; able to stand for long periods of time
Able to bend, twist and reach
Have or able to obtain an OLCC server’s permit and food handler’s card
Able to work weekends, holidays and occasional evenings throughout the year
Hours of employment will vary based on business needs to include weekends
Wages are paid on an hourly basis.  Overtime is paid in accordance with BOLI laws for hours actually worked over 40 hours per work-week

Full-Time and Part-Time Tasting Room Associates

Sokol Blosser Winery, located in the heart of Oregon's wine country, is one of the state's most well-known wineries. We are seeking enthusiastic full-time and part-time Tasting Room Associates who are able to multi-task with a fun, customer service-oriented team to: entertain, educate, serve, and provide an excellent experience to guests in our Tasting Room.  To be successful in this position, you should be passionate about food and wine, love to interact with people and have a great personality. 
 
Specific job duties include, but are not limited to:
Interact with and engage customers with knowledge of Sokol Blosser brands and products
Actively pursue and achieve team and individual sales goals in the Tasting Room
Stock sales displays and wine inventories
Answer phones, respond to guest inquiries, and complete guest orders
Maintain Tasting Room and surrounding areas to be presentable to guests
Host guest tours
 
Qualifications:
Ability to lift objects weighing up to 45 pounds
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to work well in a fast pace team environment
Ability to multitask and manage high levels of stress
Passionate about wine and the wine/food lifestyle
Must be 21 years of age or older and possess an Oregon Server’s Permit
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience in food, beverage or hospitality industries required
Previous wine experience a plus
 
Hours will fluctuate. You must be able to work on weekends with additional hours possible on weekdays and some evenings.
