Sokol Blosser Winery is looking for an outstanding leader with profound wine sales experience and business ingenuity who can lead and grow our distribution sales. Our VP of Sales is a tenacious, outgoing, self-starter who is motivated by new challenges and thinking outside the box so they can energize and engage our sales team and distribution partners to achieve sales and profitability targets. Our VP of Sales is a great story-teller and relationship-builder who is the winery’s direct link to the market and the market’s direct link to all that is Sokol Blosser and the Oregon wine industry. A strong team player who understands how distribution sales relates to the rest of the business, this person is also a key member of our executive team and will participate in creating and executing the company’s strategic plan.

Job Description
Oversee all distributor sales, both domestically and internationally, to ensure that Sokol Blosser achieves sales and profitability targets. Work with CEO to create sales targets, then lead Sales Directors, brokers/agents and distributors to achieve those results. This includes managing all aspects of sales strategy and execution: pricing, programming, product assortment, channel management, and performance.
  • Develop a sales management process and leadership style that motivates the sales team and creates a culture of high performance.
  • Be the market’s local face of Sokol Blosser Winery in certain markets, which are TBD based on candidate’s existing relationships. Continually work to build the general knowledge and awareness of the Sokol Blosser brand across the world.
  • Build and maintain close working relationships with key players in the industry, including Presidents/owners. Build and maintain relationships with the top on-premise and off-premise accounts in the world.
  • Develop and manage a chain/national account strategy and work with brokers and distributors to execute.
  • Monitor and evaluate distributor performance against our objectives, report on the performance on a weekly and monthly basis, and devise plans for further success. Analyze distribution and competitive data.
  • Show fiscal responsibility at all times. Create budgets for distributor sales team and stay within agreed budget limits. 
  • Collaborate with Sales Directors and Marketing Director on trade marketing strategy and execution to support sales and marketing objectives.
  • Provide the market with timely information about the winery’s current activities and our common future vision.
  • When and where possible, participate in Oregon wine industry events and leadership opportunities.
  • Actively participate in executive committee meetings, helping to strategize and operationalize the company’s short- and long-term strategic plan.

Skills and Abilities
  • BA/BS degree, or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in the wine industry, both on- and off-premise, managing a sales team.  Distributor and supplier experience required.  Chain/national account experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong distributor management skills and existing relationships
  • Strong relationships with key accounts in major markets
  • Strong knowledge of and passion for wine and the wine business.
  • Proven negotiation and relationship building skills
  • A self-starter with strong organizational skills and a drive to succeed
  • Strong verbal and public speaking skills along with solid writing skills
  • Ability to work well within a team while also helping each team member develop their leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated high level attention to detail with excellent follow through and reliability
  • Must own and be able to operate a reliable motor vehicle, and have a valid driving license
  • Must be able to qualify for an Oregon Server’s Permit
  • Demonstrated ability to use MS Outlook, Word and Excel

Other
FT position. Weekend and evening work may be required various times throughout the year.
This position requires significant travel of upwards of 3 weeks per month (24-30 weeks per year). This position is based in Oregon.
 

Part-time, weekend TR Associates

Sokol Blosser Winery, located in the heart of Oregon's wine country, is one of the state's most well-known wineries. We are a certified B Corp company and our estate vineyard is certified organic. We strive to make elegant wines with a sense of place and personality.

We are seeking enthusiastic part-time Tasting Room Associates who is able to multi-task with a fun, customer service-oriented team to: entertain, educate, serve, and provide an excellent experience to guests in our Tasting Room.  To be successful in this position, you should be passionate about food and wine, love to interact with people and have a great personality. 

Specific job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Interact with and engage customers with knowledge of Sokol Blosser brands and products
  • Actively pursue and achieve team and individual sales goals in the Tasting Room
  • Stock sales displays and wine inventories
  • Answer phones, respond to guest inquiries, and complete guest orders
  • Maintain Tasting Room and surrounding areas to be presentable to guests
  • Host guest tours
Qualifications:
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 45 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work well in a fast pace team environment
  • Ability to multitask and manage high levels of stress
  • Passionate about wine and the wine/food lifestyle
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and possess an Oregon Server’s Permit
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in food, beverage or hospitality industries required
  • Previous wine experience a plus
This position is part-time, and hours will fluctuate. This position will be required to work on weekends with additional hours possible on weekdays and some evenings.
