Happy Oregon Wine Month – A Message From Alex Sokol Blosser

Dear Sokol Blosser Drinkers,

May is here and Oregon Wine Month is running rampant around the world!!!! Can you feel it? This newsletter will start with Alaska Airlines and end with Croft Sauvignon Blanc.

I don’t get to fly First Class very often, but my wife and I paid up for it last week when we flew to Minneapolis and Milwaukee for our niece’s graduation and my Uncle’s 90th birthday. First class is a wonderful experience, and what was even better was that I was able to experience our Evolution White being poured in First Class on Alaska Airlines. Let me tell you something, E-White tastes mighty fine up at 30,000 feet! Thank you Alaska Airlines! They will be serving our Evolution White and Red up in First Class through mid-July. We also made an Evolution Rosé of Grenache for them that will be poured for the month of June in First Class to celebrate Rosé Month. Yes, there is a month to celebrate Rosé. Get with it will you!

I was recently on the podcast, “Small Fortune” to talk about our B-Corp certification among other things in the wine industry. I love talking about our goal to “Thrive Responsibly,” here at Sokol Blosser. What I love about being B-Corp certified is that it is a 3rd party certification that looks at our whole operation and not just at one aspect of it. Just because our vineyards are certified organic does not mean we run the rest of our operation with the triple-bottom line in mind. This is where B-Corp comes into play by asking us what do we do for our team members, our community, our waste stream, and our water use. Our team members, Jenn and Julie, are finishing up our current B-Corp audit and we should get re-certified for another two years. We’ve been B-Corp certified since 2015.

We are gearing up for an exciting summer at our Tasting Room. Our new wine bar is up and running and I encourage you to come and check it out! It is currently open Friday-Sunday from 11am-6pm. Our “Live on the Lawn” concert series starts on June 6 and will run every Thursday from 5-7pm throughout the summer, featuring our local musical talent. Get ready for our Frose! We are also gearing up for our largest event of the summer: The Sokol Blosser Summer Bash on July 13. With over a dozen vendors, music, and magic this is going to be an event you won’t want to miss. We also have new white wine releases this month as well just in time for summer: our 2023 Estate Müller-Thurgau, and our 2023 Croft Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc. Both are tasting great! Thank you Robin and our winemaking team!

Speaking of Robin, she will be over at our neighbor’s on May 18 (Durant Vineyards) for their 2nd annual “Sauvage” tasting which features Sauvignon Blancs grown and produced in the Willamette Valley. Paul Durant and his team put on this consumer tasting at his winery, and Robin was invited to be on a panel to talk about how she makes our Sauvignon Blanc and why it tastes so good! Click here for all the details.

Thanks for being a part of our wine journey and hope your May is a great one!

Cheers,

Alex
