Vanessa Hadick | Marketing Director
I was born and raised in beautiful Monterey, California and grew up the wine industry…however it never crossed my mind to work in wine myself. While studying International Relations as an undergrad at UC Davis, I spent a summer living in Monaco as a marketing intern for Campari International, an amazing experience. After subsequent internships, work, and study in London, England and Sydney, Australia, I graduated from UC Davis in March of 2006 and took off on a solo backpacking trip to Europe to celebrate. it was while enjoying dinner with strangers in Cinque Terre, Italy over bowls of pasta and bottles of red wine that I realized: wine was it!
After beginning my marketing career with Beam Wine Estates in Healdsburg soon after, I spent 5 years working for San Francisco-based Constellation Brands in brand and trade marketing roles, managing esteemed brands such as Franciscan, Mount Veeder, Wild Horse, and Blackstone. I moved to Australia in 2013, having been offered a brand management role with Treasury Wine Estates in Melbourne. During my tenure at Treasury, I was fortunate to work on a strong breadth of wineries, such as Coldstream Hills, Seppelt, Annie's Lane, Wynns Connawarra and many others - too many to list. I moved to Portland in the spring of 2015 to be with my soon-to-be husband, and began working for Sokol Blosser soon after, while concurrently earning my MBA from Portland State University - graduating in 2017. I am on the Willamette Valley Wineries Association marketing sttering committee, as well as the Oregon Wine Board business education committee. It is an incredibly exciting time to work in Oregon wine, and I’m grateful to be a part of such a special and historical piece of it here at Sokol Blosser!
Hobbies: traveling, yoga, reading, gardening, being a tourist in my own town, all things B Corp and sustainability in business, long dinners with wonderful friends and fabulous wines, and random adventures with my fiancé Jason and my favorite twin 8-year-old boys.
What You Like About Pinot Noir: I love how the balance of earthiness and fruit you find in Oregon Willamette Valley pinot noir makes it pair so well with such a wide variety of foods and occasions! It also makes an exceptionally lovely rosé. A true year-round wine.
Favorite Food: Japanese, Mexican (the REAL kind…I’m a Salinas girl), ceviche, stinky cheese.
Place You’d Like to Travel to: Japan, Cuba, Brazil, Columbia, Vietnam, Burma…the bucket list is endless and I leave the US at least once a year to cross them off!
Favorite Drink Besides Wine: Dirty Gin Martini, up.
