...and Snow!

The snow just keeps coming! Each afternoon for the past few days the sun has melted all of the white fluff... and then each morning we are treated to another new blanket of it.

Look on the right side of the picture by the foot of the door... even our "Rodent Patrol" is trying to keep warm!

Pretty much all of us at Sokol Blosser feel as if we are owed this snowy treat - 23 out of the first 26 days of November had measurable rain, with one day boasting 3 inches. We have had as much rain in the month of November as in the 9 months from February to October combined! No wonder there is so much green under the snow!

Let it Snow

When Mother Nature decides it's Winter, who are we to get in the way? Our 75 acres of estate vineyards were covered in a light dusting of powder this morning. It makes for a wonderful Winter Wonderland!

Sokol Blosser: Fueled by the Sun

BlogPic---11-20-06.jpg

For those of you who have visited our Tasting Room lately, you might be wondering what the small amount of construction is all about above our Concert Block of Pinot Noir. Our construction crew has been working around the clock to bring us twelve brand new solar panels!

After months of researching possible sites around our estate vineyards and completing prepwork, it's exciting to see the finishing touches of construction finally being completed. These panels will be ready to use by the end of December, and will supply the entire Sokol Blosser operation with approximately one third of our power needs (that's like fueling the entire Winery with just solar power!).

We'll be sure to provide more details as they come. Next time you visit, be sure to check out our solar panels - they are visible to the left of Sokol Blosser Lane as you head up to the Tasting Room.

Words and Wine in NW Portland

BlogPic---11-13-06.jpg

Need something to keep you busy this evening? Head on down to NW Portland - Sokol Blosser is taking over!

First, join Susan Sokol Blosser at Powell's City of Books on NW 10th and Burnside. Susan will be reading excerpts from her new book, At Home in the Vineyard: Cultivating a Winery, an Industry, and a Life starting at 7:30pm. She will also have books available for purchase, and is happy to sign and inscribe!

Immediately following Susan's reading, join Alison Sokol Blosser and Lee Medina at the new NW hotspot Graze. Located on 10th and Lovejoy, it's a quick jaunt from Powell's - and Lee will be pouring a selection of Sokol Blosser wines for you to enjoy. Graze is known for their delectable small plates, so you'll want to get a few to share. For more information or directions, click here.

We'll see you there!

Happy Halloween at Sokol Blosser!

BlogPic---11-1-06.jpg

A Happy Halloween was had by all yesterday at Sokol Blosser Winery! In addition to several Cellar Club members who decided to visit our Tasting Room (open 11am-5pm daily) in full ghoulish garb, we also had many employees, family members and friends who dropped by for tricks and treats.

Above: Avery, the Giggling Pumpkin; Twix, the Spidey Dog; Paula, the Furry Feline; Nikolas, the Excited Pumpkin; and Benji, ("grrrr!") the Ferocious Tiger.
