TLC for Sokol Blosser Vines

BlogPic---7-27-06.jpg

Although our vines have been experiencing a lot of heat this season, they are looking very healthy and happy out in our estate vineyards. Susan Sokol Blosser joined the staff in the vineyard this morning to discuss the particular and detailed handwork that goes into each vine to make sure that it produces the healthiest and most flavorful grapes.

The vines in Sokol Blosser's vineyards see much personal attention. Right now, for example, the leaves on the east side of each vine (all of Sokol Blosser's rows of vines face east/west) have been trimmed away so that the grapes get all of the beneficial sunlight of the morning, but are shaded from the harsh and hot rays of the afternoon sun by a dense group of leaves.

The extensive handwork each vine sees is only going to increase as the summer leads us into fall and a harvest that we are all optimistic for!
